It’s a bombastic, if somewhat familiar opening that introduces a brief tutorial mission. Sam Fisher’s helicopter is caught in the explosion and he crashes just outside the besieged compound. A British bad guy and his team invade a US military base and slaughter all soldiers on site before blowing it sky high. Splinter Cell: Blacklist opens with several large explosions. I went hands-on with the first three missions of the game to see if Sam Fisher can be more than just another white man with a gun.

Ubisoft Toronto is looking to distinguish the upcoming Splinter Cell: Blacklist - the sixth game in the series - by combining a return to its stealth roots with an accessible approach that they hope will win over casual shooter fans. This is a result of the wealth of near-identical shooters that have dominated the market in recent years. The 'white man with a gun' protagonist in video games has come under heavy fire as we near the end of this console generation. Check out this gameplay footage of them both in action. The Hostages Secured achievement/trophy will unlock, and the mission will end. Use Sleeping Gas here to safely neutralize the threat. The final train car contains two more hostiles, but they will take hostages to protect themselves. Kill two more hostiles immediately after breaking through. Quickly climb over to the right until you can't climb anymore, then break through the window into the next car. Climb out the window on the right to exit the train. Go through the train cars until you reach a busted door. Stick behind cover and take each set out, but make sure you do not hit any citizens! There will be three men in each of the first few cars. Interact with the bomb in the back to defuse it.Īfter all the bombs are defused, you will switch back to Sam on a train. Sneak up behind him and kill him with a hand-to-hand attack, or just sneak past them all until you reach the back door. One of the guards will be heavily armored near the back of the building.

A sniper will be overlooking the area, so go from cover to cover while remaining undetected. You will again be in control of Briggs for the next bomb. Disarm the bomb to switch back to Briggs. Sneak in and take out the guards with hand-to-hand take downs. Next, head to the objective marker where the bomb is located. Climb up the pipe along the left side of the tower to get the jump on them. The sniper tower in the distance contains two hostiles and a Blacklist Laptop. Stick to the left side of the train yard to avoid the majority of hostiles. The area up ahead is basically the same as the last, but commandos will join the normal infantryman, and two snipers will be overlooking the area. Remember to keep an eye out for the landmines! If you can, switch to a full-auto weapon at the weapon cache in this shadowed area. Jump over the wall behind the sniper tower to reach the next area. Make your way towards the sniper tower and capture him with non-lethal measures. Use the trains and other objects nearby as cover.Ī sniper will be overlooking the area, so don't stick your head out for too long or climb on top of the train cars. Make your way through the train yard ahead, but keep a sharp eye out for landmines! There are a number of guards walking around the train yard, most being normal infantryman, but one or two will be heavily armored infantryman. Reach the bomb at the end to switch roles again.įor the third bomb, you will switch back to Sam. If you wish to remain silent, take out the lights on the way. Walk through the tunnel eliminating hostiles towards the next bomb. Everything you do will be in the first person perspective.
Jump down and move towards the bomb to get Briggs to eliminate the remaining hostiles. You can find a Dead Drop Flash Drive on a scaffold that extends towards the bomb. If you don't want to kill anyone, just sneak down towards the van and allow Briggs to do the killing.Ĭlimb down the building you start out on and up the building nearby. You and Briggs must eliminate a group of soldiers near the van. The mission starts off at the top of a building.
